Spanish for adults who want to use it

Have you studied Spanish but still struggle to use it?

TLA can help you get unstuck.

If classes, apps, or years of practice still leave you translating in your head or freezing when someone speaks, you are not starting over. At TLA, you work live with a real instructor who keeps the Spanish understandable, so communication can follow.

A tiny Spanish story

Try this before we explain anything.

Hay un hombre.

Tiene un problema.

Quiere un perro.

Hay un perro.

Pero... el perro no quiere al hombre...

You just followed a story in Spanish.

You may not know every word, but the meaning was within reach. That small moment, “Wait, I understood that,” is where learning at TLA begins.

We keep giving you Spanish you can understand, then gradually make it more interesting and more challenging.

Why it feels different

Class happens in Spanish, not just around Spanish.

Instead of spending the whole class talking about Spanish, instructors use Spanish to tell stories, ask questions, and have real conversations you can follow.

Context makes meaning clear

Stories, images, and conversation help new words make sense.

Understanding comes before polished answers

You get time to listen and read at the right level before responding.

The challenge grows with you

As Spanish becomes familiar, the language gets richer and your responses become more natural.

See How TLA Classes Work

Where this leads

Eventually, Spanish feels less like a mental chore.

Progress is not a dramatic overnight switch. There are no shortcuts. But you will start to notice that using Spanish will take less and less of your attention. It will stop feeling like a foreign language and start to feel like plain old "language".

01

You follow the point

You can stay with a story or conversation without stopping at every unfamiliar word.

02

You translate less

More phrases register as meaning instead of turning into a sentence-building exercise.

03

You respond more naturally

What once took careful preparation begins to feel like something you can simply do.

Ways to learn

Choose how you want to keep going.

Every option follows the same idea: begin with Spanish you can understand, interact with it meaningfully, and build from there.
